Reward Offered for Info on St Rose Cemetery Vandalism
A reward is being offered for information leading to the identification and arrest of the person or persons responsible for the extensive vandalism that occurred overnight on October 31âNovember 1 at St Rose Cemetery, off Black Cherry Lane in Sandy Hook.
Police estimate that vandals caused more than $15,000 worth of damage to the cemetery for St Rose of Lima Church, which lies about two miles away on Church Hill Road.
Police Sergeant Douglas Wisentaner said that on December 22, an anonymous source posted an unspecified reward on the cemetery vandalism incident.
âThe investigation into the incident is still active, but the Newtown Police Department is seeking additional information to assist with the investigation,â police said in a statement.
Police ask anyone with information on the identities of the vandals to contact either Patrol Officer Maryhelen McCarthy or Detective Jason Frank at the police station at 3 Main Street at 203-426-5841.
