The Newtown Volunteer Ambulance Association Board of Trustees recently presented a monetary award to four of its EMT college students for serving as EMTs while pursuing degrees in health sciences.

The following EMTs received the award:

Glenn Adams, who is studying pre-med, with a dual bachelor’s degree in Chemistry & Biophysics, at University of Connecticut;

Emily Chickering, Western CT State University Nursing Program;

Karsen Pirone, who is also in the Western CT State University Nursing Program; and

Tara Slovinski, who is in the University of Pennsylvania Nursing Program.

Karsen was one of the EMTs who received a commendation earlier this year for saving a patient who was in cardiac arrest.
