Free IRS Tax Help

DANBURY — The IRS has offices throughout the state where taxpayers can get free year-round tax assistance. The Danbury office, located at 131 West Street, is open weekdays from 8 am to 4:30 pm.

Beginning on January 15, the office will be open until 6:30 pm on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Taxpayers also can get help 24 hours a day, seven days a week, by calling the IRS toll-free forms and information phone lines. Call 800/829-1040 for tax assistance; 800/829-3676 for tax forms; 703/368-9694 for fax requests; 800/829-4477 for recorded tax information. For refund information, call  800/829-4477 Monday through Friday from 7 am to 11 pm, and Saturday from 7 am to 4 pm. Taxpayers also can get quick and easy access to tax information, forms and publications from the IRS Internet Web site at www.irs.gov.
