Meserve Memorial Fund Awards Grants

DANBURY — The Children’s Adventure Center of Sandy Hook and the Sandy Hook Volunteer Fire and Rescue Company were among 19 Danbury area agencies to receive grants from the Meserve Memorial Fund in December.

Of the $654,239 in grants, $2,432 was awarded to the Children’s Adventure Center to purchase a computer, scanner and printer.

The fire company received $5,000 for its fund drive to purchase a thermal-imaging camera that will help locate victims in smoke-filled buildings. Housatonic Habitat for Humanity received $4,250 to purchase scaffolding, extension ladders and other equipment regularly needed for construction of new Habitat homes.

Other grants were made to the Bethel Historical Society, the Connecticut Parents Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, the Connecticut Photographic Workshop, the Country Players of Brookfield, Danbury Youth Services, First Night Danbury, Friends and Neighbors of Putnam Memorial State Park, Friends of Green Chimneys, Friends of Old Quarry Nature Center, Grassy Plain Drum Corps,  Meals on Wheels of Ridgefield, Productions for Young People, Ridgefield Symphony Orchestra, the Volunteer Center, TBICO, and the Women’s Center of Danbury.

The Meserve Memorial Fund was established in 1983, a legacy of the late Mr and Mrs Albert W. Meserve, to support charitable organizations that benefit the Danbury region.
