New Programs In Wonder Workshop

BRIDGEPORT — Parents of children from 6 months to 5 years can play and learn alongside their child in a new series of creative programs that begin the week of January 10 at The Discovery Museum’s Wonder Workshop. The programs are all being led by early childhood educator Sylvia Blackburn.

On Tuesdays, “Me and My Baby II” offers music, movement, art, stories and fun for infants 13 to 20 months old. “Rainbow Junction” gives 3- to 5-year-olds a chance to experiment with painting, cooking, crafts and science fun. Also on Tuesdays, “Do Art With Me” encourages parents and 3- to 5-year-olds to create drawings, paintings and sculptures at individual levels.

Wednesdays offer two “SuperTots” sessions, in which children ages 20 months to 3 years can build skills through arts, science, stories, music and fun; and “Preschool Science,” an hour of creative hands-on science to build skills in 3- to 5-year-olds. Two additional sessions of “SuperTots” are offered on Thursday mornings.

Infants age 6-12 months old are welcome on Fridays for “Me and My Baby I.”_Creative playtime with music, movement, storytelling and rhymes brings parent and child together in a relaxed setting. Another session of “Rainbow Junction”_is also available on Fridays.

Each session runs one hour each week, and all programs will last 12 weeks. Cost is $120 for each parent-child team. Space is limited and reservations are required.
