Newtown Car Care Recognized With Award

By Jeff White

It is beginning to become a yearly tradition for Gary Cristi and John Koschel of Newtown Car Care who were recognized as a CARQUEST Excellence Award Finalist.

Newtown Car Care has been named a finalist for the award each of the last three years, and has won it twice. This year, competition was especially fierce, as over 400 auto shops across the country battled for recognition.

The award serves as affirmation that Newtown Car Care is doing things right, Gary Crisci, co-owner of the shop, said this week.

Finalists were nominated by their servicing CARQUEST stores for the prestigious award. CARQUEST supplies the professional automotive service industry as well as do-it-yourelfers with replacement parts, tools and equipment.

The Excellence Award is based on criteria such as industry involvement, number of ASE certifications, community involvement, training, shop appearance and customer service. The editors of top industry trade publications selected the finalists and the top shop.

“Gary and John’s staff at Newtown Car Care exemplify what a quality auto repair facility is all about,” stated CARQUEST President Pete Kornafel.

“In an industry when you have a lot of shops going the other way, it’s great to have a shop with integrity,” said CARQUEST Sales Manager Tony Alverez, who stopped by Newtown Car Care this week to congratulate the workers.

“It takes everyone to run the business,” Mr Crisci said of the hard work put in by everyone who works in the shop. Newtown Car Care is a family business that has been in town for 33 years.

All finalists for the Excellence Award will serve on the CARQUEST Technicians Advisory Council.

The recognition for Newtown Car Care will not stop with the Excellence Award. ASE Master Technician Paul Murphy has been informed that the service magazine Brake & Front End will be running 12 issues’ worth of stories on the shop over the next year.
