ROXBURY — Minor Memorial Library will begin its sixth year of art exhibits featuring the work of Connecticut and visiting artists with a collection of realistic oils created by Roxbury resident Jay Pinchbeck.

The exhibit will be launched at a reception on Saturday, January 8, from 1 to 3 pm. It will then remain on display until Wednesday, February 16.

Mr Pinchbeck’s sale and show of portraits and landscapes will represent the realization of a lifelong ambition to become an accomplished artist. After initial courses at Maine College of Arts in Portland, he graduated from Lyme Academy of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Conn., in 1998 with a BFA degree. Mr Pinchbeck continues to study the figure and the portrait at the academy with distinguished art personalities such as Dan Gheno, among others.

“Though I have already had shows at the Lyme Academy and in Ridgefield, my exhibit at Roxbury’s library is especially meaningful to me since it is in my hometown,” said Mr Pinchbeck.

Admission to the exhibit and opening reception is free of charge. The library is at 23 South Street, and can be reached by calling 860/350-2181. Regular library hours are Monday, 10 am – 6 pm; Wednesday, 10 am to 7 pm; Friday, 10 am-8 pm; and Saturday, 9 am-4 pm.
