True Meaning Of Christmas

To The Editor:

“Christmas Spirit” is alive and well in Newtown! Over the last several weeks, as my family and I have gone through a difficult time, we have received many expressions of kindness and support from members of our community. The kind words and encouragement from strangers I met on the street, the prayers of support from fellow church members, the stalwart citizens who sat through hours of boring testimony, and returning home to find meals prepared by friends were just some of the ways that compassion was once again made incarnate.

The difficulties we are now facing have given rise to an opportunity for us to see the very best in the people around us. I cannot begin to properly thank all the kind people who have so ably demonstrated the true meaning of Christmas. All I can say is thank you.

Sincerely,

James E. Lysaght, Jr
