Coffee & Music Are Returning
To Newtown, Saturday
Newtown Coffee House will return to the Memorial Room of Newtown Congregational Church House this weekend, and organizers are hoping the event will become a regular monthly event at 41-A Main Street.
The featured performer on Saturday, January 8, will be Coleman Brooks, a guitarist from Kent. Mr Brooks has been performing throughout the region for nearly 30 years and his audiences have always enjoyed his singing and songwriting talents.
Mr Brooks will begin his performance with a selection of childrenâs songs. The second half of the show will then include the musicianâs original materials and covers of classic folk and rock songs geared toward the adults in the audience.
Doors open at 7:30, which will also be the beginning of an open mic hour. Musicians and writers are invited to spend a few minutes on stage sharing their talent before turning the mic over to Mr Brooks for his 8:30 start.
Admission is $5 and all ages are welcome. The admission includes the performance as well as soft drinks, coffee and an assortment of baked goods.
The church house is at 41-A Main Street in Newtown, just behind Newtown General Store. Plenty of parking is available in the adjoining lot behind Newtown Savings Bank.
