Veered Off Hanover Road
Newtown Police report on Sunday, November 30 at 12:03 am, 18-year-old Jaethrom Michaelis Bowden of Danbury was operating a 2007 GMC Yukon Denali and traveling southbound on Hanover Road. Michaelis Bowden went off the southbound shoulder of Hanover Road and struck Frontier Utility Pole #1826.
No injuries were reported, and Michaelis Bowden was issued a verbal warning for violation of Connecticut General Statute 14-242, restricted turn.
Slippery Conditions Cause Heavy Damage
Newtown Police report on Sunday, December 14 at 7:44 am, 20-year-old Jack Kravec of Newtown was operating a 2018 Subaru Outback and traveling northwest on Flat Swamp Road. Kravec slowed to turn right onto Cemetery Road, but lost control of the car on the snow-covered road. The car ran off the road, and struck a stop sign, street sign, then a tree. The car sustained heavy and disabling damage to the left rear door and left front fender. The left front wheel was bent outward.
The Subaru Outback was towed by Envy Towing and Recovery. Kravec said he may have hit his head during the accident, but declined EMS attention at the scene. Kravec was issued a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Failed Right-Hand Turn On Toddy Hill Road
Newtown Police report on Sunday, December 14 at 8:59 am, 38-year-old Camille Patterson of Newtown was traveling northbound on Toddy Hill Road and was negotiating a right-hand curve in the road. Patterson, operating a 2015 Mercedes-Benz MI350, continued to drive straight, which caused her to leave the northbound lane and cross into the southbound lane. The left front of the vehicle made contact with the guardrail.
No injuries were reported, and Patterson was issued a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Evading Driver Sought
Newtown Police report an unknown vehicle was traveling northbound on Edmond Road at approximately 12:40 pm on December 14. Tire marks on fresh snow showed the vehicle exited the northbound travel lane, went up the right hand shoulder, and over a fixed utility box which contained fiber communication wires and equipment belonging to Frontier Communications. The box and equipment were heavily damaged. The vehicle is described as a black colored pickup truck.
If identified, the operator will be charged with traveling too fast for conditions, failure to maintain a lane, and evading responsibility for property damage.

Too Fast For Conditions
Newtown Police report Julie Mack, 61, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2018 Subaru Forester, was traveling westbound on Buttonshop Road at 1:02 pm December 14. Anthony Sodoski, 67, of Newtown, operating a 2012 Toyota Highlander, was traveling on Buttonshop Road ahead of Mack, and became disabled and stopped into the westbound lane, next to the shoulder of the road. While negotiating a left hand curve, Mack’s vehicle started to slide on the snow covered road, moving onto the westbound shoulder and striking a mailbox before striking Sodoski’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Sodoski’s vehicle was towed.
Mack was issued a written warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Lost Control On Swamp Road
Newtown Police report on Monday, December 15, at 2:37 pm, Casey Brown, 25, of Trumbull, was operating a 1998 Honda Civic DX heading eastbound on Swamp Road. Brown tried to negotiate a curve in the roadway when she lost control, spun around, and traveled off the eastbound shoulder. The driver side front bumper made contact with the mailbox at 41 Swamp Road, causing damage to the mailbox and vehicle.
No injuries were reported, and Brown was issued a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Struck Utility Pole
Newtown Police report Brian Sibley, 18, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2004 Volvo S60, was traveling eastbound on Zoar Road at 4:43 am December 16. While negotiating a left-hand curve, the vehicle ran off the icy roadway and struck a utility pole.
No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.
Sibley was issued a verbal warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.
Hit Deer
Newtown Police report Prerna Rao, 38, of Newtown, operating a 2024 Lexus Ux 250h, was traveling southbound on Boggs Hill Road at 5:53 pm December 16. A deer entered the roadway and was struck by Rao’s vehicle. The deer sustained heavy injuries and dispatch was required.
Rao was not injured. The vehicle was not towed.
No enforcement action was taken.
Violation Of Protective Order Charge
Newtown Police report that on December 18, Lynsey Lotty, 47, of Shelton, was taken into custody by Shelton Police on an active warrant for her arrest. She was transported to Newtown Police Department and charged with violation of a protective order. She was processed and released from custody on a promise to appear with a court date of December 19 in Danbury Superior Court.
Following Too Close
Newtown Police report Lucy Sgagliardich, 17, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2003 Buick Century, was traveling westbound on Berkshire Road at 3:24 am December 18. She was traveling behind a 2021 GMC Sierra operated by Jose Torres, 43, of Derby. Torres slowed for traffic ahead and Sgagliardich rear-ended his vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Sgagliardich was issued a verbal warning for following too close.
Struck Rock Embankment
Newtown Police report Rylan Talbot, 16, of Sandy Hook, operating a 2023 Tesla Model 3, was traveling northbound on Hoseye Coach Road at 8:11 am December 18. While negotiating a curve, Talbot lost control, left the roadway right, and struck a large rock embankment.
No injuries were reported. The vehicle was towed.
Talbot was issued a verbal warning for traveling too fast for conditions.
Went Left Before Right
Ricardo Dipierro, 93, of Carmel, N.Y., operating a 2011 Toyota Camry, was traveling southbound in the right turn only lane on Queen Street at 4:22 pm December 19. Holden Turk, 27, of Sandy Hook, operating a 1998 Ford F800, was traveling southbound on Queen Street in the straight only lane. Dipierro veered left while attempt to make a right hand turn into the 6 Queen Street parking lot, and struck Turk’s vehicle.
No injuries were reported. Neither vehicle was towed.
Dipierro was issued a verbal warning for failure to drive in the proper lane.
