Closings, early dismissals and other schedule changes for New Year's Eve and Day have been announced.

All town offices and agencies will be closed from noon on Thursday, December 31, and remain closed until 8 am Monday, January 4, for the New Year’s holiday.

The transfer station at the former landfill on Ethan Allen Road will be closing at 11 am on Thursday, December 31. It will be closed on Friday, January 1. The transfer station will reopen for its regular hours of 7 am to 3 pm on Saturday, January 2.

C.H. Booth Library will be closing early, at 1 pm, on December 31. It will be closed on New Year’s Day.

Newtown Senior Center will close at noon on December 31 (no lunch served, and all classes canceled), be closed all day January 1, and will reopen on Monday, January 4.

The public schools are closed for winter break through January 1. Classes resume on January 4.

The offices of The Bee, at 5 Church Hill Road, will be open on Thursday, December 31. The Bee office will be closed Friday, January 1.
