To The Editor:

First, I should introduce myself! I am a combat veteran who earned a Bronze Star going toe-to-toe with the Taliban. I am a Lamont administration alum with a record of delivering for Connecticut. I am a husband to Mike, dog dad to our two rescue pups, and a patriotic Democrat running to be your State Representative.

As the first in my family to attend college, I was nominated by Connecticut Senator Joe Lieberman to attend West Point. For eight years, I flew Apache attack helicopters and commanded soldiers everywhere from Korea to Afghanistan. Service taught me optimism. It taught me how to solve big problems. It taught me to believe in people.

Right now, families feel pressure from every direction. Housing costs make it harder to stay in town. Energy bills hit us like a gut punch. Childcare stretches family budgets. These challenges are real, but they are not permanent.

I am running to lower your cost of living and raise your quality of life.

That means fighting so that Newtown becomes more affordable for young families and seniors alike. It means investing in energy solutions that cut monthly bills and protect our environment. It means treating education and childcare as the foundation of a strong economy, not an afterthought.

From the battlefield to the Connecticut capitol, I have seen what real leadership can deliver. I am running because my service did not end when my uniform came off. I’m ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work for you, day one.

One last note, you are all invited to my campaign launch at 11 am on Saturday, January 10, in the Edmond Town Hall Alexandria Room! Lt. Governor Susan Bysiewicz, former Newtown State Representative Chris Lyddy, and countless town leaders will join the celebration. I hope to see you there!

Brandon Moore
