Newtown Athletes Chime In On Success Of NCAA Champion Huskies

By Andy Hutchison

The University of Connecticut men’s basketball team caught fire just in time to roll through the Big East and NCAA tournaments and came away with two championships, capping off an impressive season with a 53-41 win over the Butler Bulldogs in the April 4 NCAA finale, in Houston.

UConn surprised many fans considering the team had a roster loaded with underclassmen, such as freshmen Jeremy Lamb and Shabazz Napier, who complemented junior standout Kemba Walker.

Athletes working out and practicing at Newtown Youth Academy the day after the Huskies made Connecticut proud for the third time since 1999, responded to the following question: Do you think it was a surprise that UConn won the championship?
