Kirsten Lee Carleton child of Mr and Mrs Stephen E. Carleton of Sandy Hook was recently named to the winter 2001 term dean’s list at Choate Rosemary Hall in Wallingford.

James G. Dunseith of Newtown, son of Richard and Eileen Kahn Dunseith of Newtown, was named to the dean’s list during the 2000 fall term at Middlebury College. The dean’s list is the second highest recognition for academic achievement at the liberal arts institution in Vermont.

Amy Grabowski, 1997 graduate of Newtown High School, has been included on the distinguished dean’s list of outstanding students as one of the few students acquiring a 4.0 grade point average for the fall 2000 semester at the University of Maryland.

Ben Kugielsky, from the Newtown High School class of 2000, is an Engineering/Computer Systems major at UMass, Amherst, where he achieved dean’s list for the fall semester, 2000, and was asked to join Alpha Lamba Delta, a Freshman Honor Society for students who achieve better than a 3.75 GPA.

Christopher Morgan, a seventh grader at Newtown Middle School, was named to the second quarter honor roll recently.

Providence College recently announced area students who have been named to the fall 2000 semester dean’s list. Area students who achieved the dean’s list include: Jennifer Bacsik of Sandy Hook is majoring in English and is a member of the class or 2001; Krista Bell of Sandy Hook is a member of the class of 2002; Erin Cavanaugh of Botsford is majoring in education – special education at elementary level and is a member of the class of 2001; Courtney Lyons of Newtown is majoring in marketing and is a member of the class of 2003; Lindsey Malloy of Newtown is majoring in biology – science and is a member of the class of 2002; Emily Marron of Newtown is a member of the class of 2002; and Heather Reed of Newtown is majoring in math – secondary education and is a member of the class of 2002.

Rachel Romanelli, daughter of Mr and Mrs Romanelli of Sandy Hook, accepted an academic scholarship from Xavier University in Cincinnati, OH. Rachel attends Newtown High School and intends to major in criminal justice.

Rhonda K. Tamakloe of Sandy Hook and a 12th grader at Phillips Exeter Academy in New Hampshire has earned honors for the winter term. The Academy is an independent boarding/day school. She is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Nelson S. Tamakloe of Sandy Hook.
