The Newtown community blood drive postponed due to this weekâs snowstorm has been rescheduled for Sunday, March 11, from 8 am to 1:15 pm at the Newtown Middle School at 11 Queen Street.
Volunteer blood donors who were scheduled to give blood on Monday, March 5, or Tuesday, March 6, will be contacted by the Red Cross to reschedule their appointments for this blood drive, or for the blood drive of their choice in the coming days. All other eligible blood donors are urged to call 800-Give-Life to make an appointment to give blood at this or any other blood drive in Connecticut.
Volunteer blood donors are needed in the aftermath of this snowstorm in order to prevent a blood shortage. It is estimated that postponed blood drives across the state on Monday and Tuesday resulted in the loss of 1,100 units of blood.
