Western CT Hamfest, Sunday At Town Hall

The Candlewood Amateur Radio Association (CARA) will present the Western CT Hamfest at Edmond Town Hall on Sunday, September 14. The ARRL-sanctioned event will run from 8:30 am until 12:30 pm.

The event will have plenty of ham radio equipment being operated by CARA members, as well as an emergency communications vehicle at the event. This is an ambulance that has been converted into a mobile communications vehicle to provide amateur radio emergency communications support out in the field. The vehicle will be demonstrated by Kevin Cellini (N1KGM), who is both a radio amateur and a communicator with the Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security.

There will also be ham radio equipment available for purchase, computer gear, door prizes, and refreshments, and commercial vendors on site.

Three seminars — “The Ins and Outs of CW,” “Satellite Communications: How To Do It” and “D-Star Presentation and Demo” — will be presented.

Participants will be setting up at 7 am. Tailgating will be available for $10, which includes one admission. Those interested in talking-in with the Hamfest participants can tune in to 147.300+ PL 100.

For additional information contact Joe de Groot (AB1DO) at 938-4880 or ab1do@arrl.net, or Jim Ritterbusch (KD1YV) at 775-1946. Additional information is also available online at Danbury.org/cara/hamfest.
