Letters Of Endorsement
To the Editor:
Iâve found several of the letters from those supporting Will Rodgersâ opponent amusing. These writers concentrate on their candidates youth and energy because there is simply little else to publicize.
At age 48, Will is hardly ancient and the energy he brings to the office of state representative will be simply incredible. During his recent tenure in the US Marines, as an officer, he was required to undergo all the training troops do. This meant physical training with troops younger than his daughter and he served with them in Iraq.
Living in Newtown for 16 years, Will has served for ten-plus years on our Legislative Council, five-plus as its chairman. He is, if not the youngest, one of the youngest chairs of the council. Throughout his life heâs been a dynamic achiever, becoming an Eagle Scout at age 13 and a colonel in the USMCR at age 44. Just imagine what he will be able to do as our next state legislator.
Ambition alone will not get the job done for Newtown in Hartford. It also requires world experience and proven leadership ability. I am thrilled Will is now focused on campaigning to bring that drive and experience to the state house. He deserves our support.
Sincerely,
Jim Smith
