Memorial services for Evelyn J. Wilmot, 79, formerly of Newtown, who died February 25 in Frisco, Texas, will take place Saturday, April 21, at 1 pm, in the United Methodist Church, 5 Clapboard Ridge Road, Danbury.
Ms Wilmot was born in Danbury Hospital, September 26, 1932, the daughter of Wilhelmina and Thomas Owens. She lived in Brewster and Carmel, N.Y., for her first eight years of life.
She spent most of her life living in Danbury, and in the Hawleyville section of Newtown from 1968 until 2000, when she retired to Texas.Â
Her daughter Vicki Coley, and her husband David, of Texas; one grandson; her brother Donald Owens, and his wife Betty, of Brookfield; and many friends survive Ms Wilmot. One granddaughter predeceased her.
Ms Wilmot served as a director of the Newtown Striders Drum Corps for many years, and represented Newtown in many parades.
She worked at CBS Magnetics in Bethel and the Ethan Allen Inn in Danbury.
Ms Wilmot was a New York Yankees fan, and a Snoopy collector.
