Irene E. Byrne

Irene E. Byrne, 92, died May 9, in Glen Hill Care and Rehabilitation Center, Danbury. She was born in New York City, November 8, 1919, a daughter of Anna (Ryall) and John Connolly. Mrs Byrne was the wife of the late William J. Byrne.

She was a longtime resident of New York City and was a resident of Connecticut since 1983, first in Milford and then Nunnawauk Meadows.

Widowed at an early age with a young son and two teenaged daughters, Mrs Byrne provided for her family, and will be remembered as a wonderful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was retired from New York Telephone where she was an accounting clerk.

Her son, Kevin W. Byrne of Newtown; two daughters, Virginia Rowland of Milford and Maureen Winn of Hopatcong, N.J.; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren survive Mrs Byrne. She was predeceased by her sister and lifelong best friend, Mabel Kelly, and by one granddaughter.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, May 11, at 10:30 am, in St Rose of Lima Church, Newtown. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.

Calling hours were scheduled at Honan Funeral Home, 58 Main Street, Newtown, Thursday, May 10, from 5 to 8 pm.
