Program On Middle East
MONROE â The congregation for Humanistic Judaism will host a talk by Fairfield University Dr Philip W. Bennett on the West Bank Wall, on Friday, February 13, at 7:30 pm.
Dr Bennett, adjunct professor of applied ethics, is an active member of the Connecticut Chapter of Brit Tzedek vâShalom, the Jewish Alliance for Justice and Peace. Brit Tzedek vâShalom is a group that espouses an alternative American Jewish view, emphasizing support for peace initiatives embodied in the Road Map and the Geneva Accord. Dr Bennettâs presentation â including maps and a short video â will focus on security issues, specifically, whether the barrier will make Israel a safer or less safe place, and the implications of the barrier for a viable two-state solution.
Dr Bennett is a longtime peace activist, who spent several years at Cornell Universityâs Center for Religion, Ethics and Social Policy.
This program, to be held in a private home, is free and open to the public. Call 203-226-5451 for reservations.
The Congregation for Humanistic Judaism is a progressive, cooperative group that has a full program for children including Sunday school and bar/bat mitzvah, and an exciting variety of programs for adults. For more information, check the website www.humanisticjews.org.
