Hockey Is 'In' With Den 2
Hockey Is âInâ With Den 2

âGo Stags!â Den 2 was yelling on March 3 in a cold ice rink in Fairfield. The game was Fairfield University against Canisius, and no one could beat the Stags with this great group of fans, Cub Scouts Den 2 from Hawley Pack 70. This group of second grade boys was cheering the whole way.
âI liked it when we found the pucks,â Jimmy Kimball said when the boys collected hockey pucks hit off the rink by the two teams.
As the game went on, the scouts got more into it. Most of them enjoyed the roughness, like Scouts Ryan Pasko and Neil Berthier. âWe liked it when they banged into the walls right in front of us.â
The family trip arranged by John Curry was a fun-filled outing for all. Mr Curry says, âThe players and the coaches made it especially fun for the boys. And the game turned out great!â
Well it sure did, the Stags won 7 to 5 and they are in the playoffs. At the end of the game Den 2 got to go into the team locker room. Autographs were given and each boy got a hockey stick from the players! Scout Kevin Curry said, âI liked getting the pucks and the autographs!â
Another cub, Eric Johnson, said, âTheir locker room stunk, but I liked getting the hockey sticks.â
Also, true Cub Scout spirit was shown when scout Kyle Kimball gave up his puck and gave it to Vincent Brophy, a scout who did not have a puck. Vincent said, âI liked it when Kyle and I got [hockey] sticks, and when Kyle gave me his puck.â
Joshua Gilbert and Donny Gies liked meeting the players and getting autographs also.
Den leader Neal Kimball said, âThis game taught the boys about teamwork, sportsmanship, and having fun.â
The game was enjoyed by all and Den 2 now says, âHockey rocks!â
