German Studies Presentations At WCSU
DANBURY â The German Studies Center at Western Connecticut State University will present the second episode of Heimat II with an adjoining workshop Saturday, October 18.
At 7 pm on Thursday, November 6, the enter will present, âThe US and German Speaking Europe: Intercultural Issues and their Effects on Business.â
Heimat II (1994) is the story of Hermann Simon (from the first sequel of Heimat) and his life during the turbulent 1960s in Munich. A brilliant modernist musician and composer, Hermann interacts with a dazzling circle of young students, artists, rebels, and lovers. Edgar Reitz directs.
The presentation takes place between 10 am and 1 pm in WCSUâs midtown Student Center.
âThe US and German Speaking Europe: Intercultural Issues and their Effects on Businessâ will be presented by Eva Nell, MA, marketing manager of IAK in Hofheim, Germany. Ms Nell will lead an interactive workshop to compare individual and culturally conditioned preferences in international business. Examples from international business, mergers and acquisitions, as well as from day-to-day working and social life will illustrate differences in perception, values, and business behavior between the old and new world. The presentation will take place at 7 pm in WCSUâs midtown Student Center.
