Suzuki Piano & Guitar Recitals, Sunday At Meeting House
The Suzuki Music School of Sandy Hook will present its end of year piano and guitar recitals at Newtown Meeting House on Sunday, May 19, at 1:30 and 3 pm.
The recitals are open to the public, free of charge. Students ranging from age 3 to 18 will perform music which includes beginning folk songs to pieces by Bach, Vivaldi and Rodrigo.
The meeting house is at 31 Main Street, at the flagpole.
Tristan Speed and Yossi Kohrman-Glaser, who have been students at the school since age 4, will both be leaving for college in the fall. The young men, who have been studying classical guitar with Suzuki Music School co-director Andrew Lafreniere, will perform at the 3 pm recital.
Suzuki Music School directors Helen Malyszka and Mr Lafreniere have been teaching music in Newtown since 1985. The school moved to its current location at 111 Church Hill Road, Sandy Hook, in 1992. The school offers early music education programs, classical guitar and piano lessons. Adults are also welcome.
