Senior Gold Girls 14, Wakeman 4: The Newtown Senior Gold team started the season off with a good victory over Fairfield Wakeman at Fairfield on Saturday. Lexi Samuels was stellar in the cage, making seven saves, while the defense led by Haley Trudell, Celia Gold, Tess Baldino, and Brittany Meisenheimer continuously stopped the Wakeman attack and forced turnovers. Meisenheimer and Gold combined for 10 ground balls on the day. The offense was led by Kyle Dandrea, Kat Jennings Fischer, Clare Hebert, Lindsay Hoyt, Emily Campbell, and Meisenheimer.
Senior Gold Girls 13, New Fairfield Blue 7: Lexi Samuels had another great game in the goal, stopping eight shots. The midfielder shined in this game hustling all over the field and forcing New Fairfield in to 17 turnovers. They were led by Eliza Eggleston, Julia Wiberg, Claudia Morris, Brianna Sclafani, Kat Jennings Fischer, and Claudia Morris. The scoring was led by Maddy Bridges, Sclafani, Lindsay Hoyt, Kyle Dandrea, Fischer, Morris, and Clare Hebert
Junior Gold Girls 10, Wakeman 4: Bridget Walsh and Olivia Holman combined to save 12 shots as the Junior Gold Girls kicked off the 2011 season with a win. Emily Bell and Jessica Maturo played excellent defense, with Lauren Zimmerman snatching six ground balls. The offensive attack was led by Nikki Zaccaro, Julia Sughrue, Meghan Doyle, Tessa Leon-Gambetta, and Peyton Cutolo
Junior Gold Girls 12, New Fairfield 10: Goalie Bridget Walsh made nine saves as the Junior Gold held off a strong New Fairfield team for a dramatic, come-from-behind victory. Jessica Maturo, Nevan Gattey, and Emily Dirga played strong defense. Julia Sughrue led the team in ground balls. Nikki Zaccaro, Meghan Doyle and Caroline Caporale provided the scoring for Newtown.

Newtown 13, Brookfield 0: Newtown overwhelmed it opponent in this impressive 13-0 win. Nearly every offensive player had shots on goal, with Nick Lansing, Elliot Gregory, Austin LeBlanc, Shawn McCarthy, Nate Sanchez, and Riley Rising all grabbing goals, and David Anderson netting 4 and Kenny Barber 3. Colin McCaffferty, Ethan Hoffman and Oliver Wood were instrumental in the powerhouse show of goals. An intimidating defense led by Cyril Brown, Sam Cox, Cayden Dunn, Sean Wallace and Noah LeFerriere, halted any attempt by Brookfield to get past bored goalie Jack (The Wall) Wellman.
