To the Editor:

I support Chris Lyddy for reelection as Newtown’s state representative. He has served our community well during his first term. Chris joined with Governor Rell and a group of legislators to pass substantial legislation that will help put Connecticut on the road to economic recovery. Chris has and will continue to develop a system that ensures our children are both college- and career-ready; improving standards, developing systems to evaluate our progress, integrating technology and ensuring our teachers are equipped with the tools they need to be successful in their charge to educate our youth.

We as Newtown residents expect a transparent and responsive government. Chris exhibited this in his first term. Chris held office hours in the community and sponsored and passed a bill that requires greater transparency through the development of an online database of state expenditures which will be available to the general public.
