Love and Knishes At Jewish Center

SOUTHBURY — The Love and Knishes Senior Lunch Program of the Federation-Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut will meet every Tuesday in February. The luncheons take place at noon in the social hall at the Walzer Family Jewish Community Campus, 444 Main Street North in Southbury.

All programs are open to the public, and there is a suggested donation of $5.50 for seniors for the luncheon.

Following lunch, there will be entertainment starting at 1 pm. The following programs are planned for February: On February 3, guitarist/singer Larry Ayce will perform ballads, country music and special requests. On February 10, Southbury resident Patty Richards will entertain with a variety of favorite old tunes on the piano.

The February 17 program features Dr Ellen Polokoff speaking on “Breast Health: In Our Own Hands.” Dr Polokoff, a surgeon specializing in breast health, recently opened an office in Southbury. She will discuss how we each can take an active role in the early detection and treatment of breast disease. There will be time for questions following her presentation.

On February 24, Kate Batter will play guitar and sing folk, cabaret and show tunes.

Lunch reservations must be made by Thursday for the next week’s program. To RSVP, call Debby Horowitz, Brownstein Jewish Family Service Program Director, at 267-3177 ext 105.
