Sibley’s Guide To Birds: The Inside Story

Lillinonah Audubon Society will sponsor a program entitled “The Making of the Sibley Guide to Bird Life and Behavior” on Thursday, March 23, at C.H. Booth Library, 25 Main Street.

The featured speaker, Chris Elphick, is an assistant professor at UConn, and co-editor along with Barny Dunning and David Sibley of The Sibley Guide To Bird Life And Behavior, and author of a nationally syndicated newspaper column, “Sibley on Birds.”

Dr Elphick’s research focuses on the conservation and ecology of birds, especially in wetlands, and he currently has research projects in Connecticut and several other states. His students are working on conservation efforts for the salt marsh birds along Connecticut’s coastline.

An entertaining speaker, Dr Elphick’s talk will give us the inside story on the creation of the Sibley Guide To Bird Life And Behavior and include lots of anecdotes about bird behavior.

Refreshments will be offered at about 7:30 pm and the program will start at 8.

There is no charge and the public is welcome. Attendees should park behind the library and use the lower entrance, near the parking lot.
