Teacher Of The Year Award Nominations Are Now Being Accepted

MERIDEN — Teachers’ Insurance Plan, an auto insurance program exclusively for educators, has opened the nomination process for Connecticut’s 2003–2004 “Teacher of the Year” award.

The award will include $1,000 to the winning teacher in the state and a $500 grant to that teacher’s school.

“We’re very excited about being able to honor one of Connecticut’s finest educators,” said Stephen T. Zerio, Teachers’ Insurance Plan’s manager for Connecticut. “I have a feeling our selection panel will have their work cut out for them when they’re trying to narrow down the choices to just one winner.”

A panel of judges that include both public and private school teachers, administrators, and union officials, as well as Teachers’ Plan senior management will select the teacher who has contributed to the betterment of his or her school, students, or educational community in a way that stands out among his or her colleagues in the state.

The winner will be named by June 1.

Nomination forms are being made available to all elementary, middle, and high schools, both public and private, throughout the state. For additional forms or more information, call 800-671-8810.
