One of the many reasons I’m supporting Herb Rosenthal for first selectman is his commitment to preserving Newtown’s character and quality of life.

Herb has demonstrated unusual skill in securing open space for the town at minimal expense. His leadership in negotiations with the water company led to over 700 acres of Newtown open space preserved at very little cost to local taxpayers.

He again employed his talent for creative approaches to secure open space when he worked with the State of Connecticut on the Kazan property –– 150 acres of land that could have cost us a million dollars, are now preserved and available for our enjoyment at no cost.

There is a lot of pressure on Newtown from development. We should keep Herb working for us to make the most of our resources and take care of our open spaces.

Join me in voting for Herb Rosenthal for first selectman on November 4.
