Newtown Needs

A Skate Park

To the Editor:

Hi, my name is Domenic Cartelli, I’m 9 years old, and I really like to skateboard because usually I would play hockey in the winter and I really can’t play it in the summer right and I really think that skateboarding is like playing hockey. I’ve been skateboarding for two years. I got my first skateboard when I was 6 years old. My best trick is the kick flip. But, I really can’t land it yet. If I had a skate park to practice in I would be able to stick it.

The only other skate park there is is Vertigo in Brookfield. I only get to go there once in a while because it’s too much money, and I have three younger siblings. So, it’s hard to get there. My favorite pro skateboarder is Mike Valley. I like him because he usually does all the kind of hand stand tricks. And, he flicks it around. It’s cool!

It’s really important to me and my friends to have a skate park in Newtown. We’re always trying to build and make our own ramps with the same supplies. Sometimes, it works but most of the time it doesn’t. We would love to be able to ride our bikes or walk or be dropped off at a park instead of annoying people on the street.

I hope you can print my letter because I want everyone in Newtown to know how important it is.
