Strides Walk Set For Oct. 16

WESTPORT — The annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer 2005 has been set for Sunday, October 16 in Sherwood Island Park. Registration is 9 am; the event starts at 11 am.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is a noncompetitive walk supporting the American Cancer Society’s unique mission to fight cancer on four fronts: research, education, advocacy, and patient services. As the nation’s largest nongovernmental breast cancer research supporter, the society has invested more than $246 million since 1972 to give those touched by breast cancer more reasons for hope.

Making Strides events happen throughout the country, usually in October, and are typically five miles in length. This year, there will be more than 100 walks taking place throughout the nation, with more than 400,000 participants.
