& Hope
SOUTHBURY â The Federation, Jewish Communities of Western Connecticut, Inc, will present a communitywide Yom HaShoah remembrance on Sunday, May 1, at 4 pm.
The program consists of the traditional candle lighting and prayer service along with musical program âHymns, Heroes and Hope.â The program, which is produced by Student Cantor Lauren Furman, features choirs from area synagogues and children in the community. The program stresses the importance of never forgetting the Shoah (Holocaust) while continuing to remember there is always hope for the future.
A photograph exhibit, âNo Childâs Play,â on loan from Yad Vashem in New York, will be available for viewing in the social hall May 1â9. The exhibit demonstrates that even during horrific times children find a way to remain children.
The Yom HaShoah remembrance program is free and open to everyone in the community. It is appropriate for all ages.
Due to seating limitations, registration is requested; however, walk-ins will be welcomed. To register or for further information, contact Cynthia Burger at 203-267-3177, extension 106, or cburger@jfed.net.
The Federation is at 444 Main Street North (Route 6/67).
