State Flu Cases Hit New Low
(AP) â Connecticut health officials say the number of flu cases in the state is at the lowest level they have seen since they began collecting data in 2003.
The Public Health Department says there were only 58 confirmed cases in Connecticut as of December 27 in the flu season that began in October. Officials say there were about 150 cases at the same time last year.
Connecticut saw a record flu season last year, with thousands of cases being reported.
Federal officials responded to the high number of cases nationwide last year by changing all three strains of flu virus in the vaccine.
Officials say peak flu season usually begins this time of year.
