Prudential Connecticut Raises Over $100,000 For Sunshine Kids
Prudential Connecticut Realty has reached a new level in its fundraising efforts for the Sunshine Kids organization, already raising more than $100,000 and well on its way to reaching its 2004 goal of raising $125,000. The Sunshine Kids, a nonprofit organization dedicated to children with cancer, provides a variety of programs and events, free of charge, for children who are receiving cancer treatment.
Earlier this month, the Southbury and Woodbury offices raised $17,400 by sponsoring a Sunshine Kids Benefit Auction. Scot Haney, WFSB-TV Channel 3 Eyewitness News meteorologist, was guest auctioneer. Forty-five items were auctioned off to the highest bidders. Additionally, numerous silent auction items were bid upon, and raffle prizes were awarded throughout the evening.
Recently, the companyâs Technology Department launched a âRent-A-Techâ service in which individuals can ârentâ a Prudential computer technician for a designated hourly rate. All proceeds will be donated to the Sunshine Kids organization in the clientâs name.
The Sunshine Kids is able to put between 85 percent and 90 percent of the money donated by Prudential Connecticut Realty directly into childrenâs programs, which are attend by young cancer patients from across the United States. Medical staff members at Connecticut Childrenâs Hospital and Yale New Haven Hospital select the participants in Connecticut. Events sponsored by the organization include holiday parties, sporting events, fishing trips, visits with celebrities and reunions.
