Garner Inmate Arrested in Prison Assault

State police report that Garner Correctional Institution inmate Braulio Galarza, 25, allegedly assaulted another male inmate at the high-security prison on Nunnawauk Road on September 12, so they went there to investigate.

The victim was injured in the incident, state police said.

State police charged Galarza with third-degree assault and with breach of peace. Galarza was scheduled to appear on September 15 in Danbury Superior Court for arraignment on the charges. He is scheduled to return to court on October 7.

Galarza is serving a 20-year sentence in Garner on a conviction for first-degree manslaughter with a firearm.
