An Obvious Choice For The School Board
An Obvious Choice
For The School Board
(The following letter to the Board of Education has been received for publication.)
Dear Board of Education Members:
I am writing to urge your support for George Caracciolo as the seventh member of your board. Based on the 2007 election results, George received the fourth highest number of votes in an election for three Board of Education candidates. Given the results of this very recent election, it seems to be the obvious and most democratic way to fill this opening.
Early on, George reached out to all board members individually to express his interest, and he has made himself available to answer questions. This proactive and open approach shows he is very interested in supporting Newtown by volunteering to serve in what is possibly the most important board in our town. George is a longtime resident of Newtown, and has two grandchildren attending the Newtown Public School System.
George has spent the last year or more attending board meetings and keeping himself fully informed of all this issues. He has also served five years on a board of education in Long Island. This experience, coupled with the fact that he had the most popular support of all the remaining candidates in the election, should make this an easy choice. He has a lifelong dedication to public service, including serving as a lieutenant in the New York City Police Department and serving as a member of the 2001 Charter Revision Commission.
Please show your support by voting to add George Caracciolo to the Board of Education.
Sincerely,
Mary Ann Jacob
