The Most Wonderful Time of the Year

 To the Editor:

During Christmas week, the Knights of Columbus, Virgilius Council #185, The Congregation Adath Israel, and The Newtown Congregational Church prepared meals for delivery to 500 people at local shelters and, in addition, also sponsored a Christmas Day Community Dinner. We had a wonderful attendance at the dinner. The St Rose Parish Hall was full of guests and their children. In addition, meals and toys were also delivered to more than 60 people in their homes. If you could have seen the smiles of the children and their parents, or felt the warmth of the hearts of the volunteers, you would have agreed it was the most wonderful time of the year.

 We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to: all the generous people in our community who made donations or volunteered their time to make this event a success and especially to: Fr Bob Weiss, Rabbi Shaul Praver, Rev Steve Gordon, Miracle Graphics, The Newtown Bee, the Newtown High School, SODEXHO, Lereine Frampton, Bagel Delight & Deli, Scholastic Inc, Andrea’s Bakery, Mona Lisa, The Inn at Newtown, The Compass Restaurant, The Three Bears Restaurant, The Sandy Hook Diner, The Sisters at Marian Heights, Costco, and Big Y.

There are so many in our community in need of assistance. May God Bless all the volunteers and their families that donated their time to make this Christmas a very special time for those who are ...at our Gate.
