The Newtown Junior Lacrosse team - which finished the regular season with a 9-6 win over Fairfield - participated in the 2001 CONNY League playoffs on Saturday and Sunday, June 2 and 3, and finished 18th out of 46 teams.

In the win over Fairfield, Alex Archie scored three goals while Ian Tarrant and Ned Emerson scored two goals apiece. Greg Hill and Alex Hamilton also scored as Tarrant (2), Archie (2), Hill, Travis Spear, Matt Hill and Kevin Regan all provided assists.
Defensive stalwarts for Newtown included Christian Beitel, Ian White, Eric Palmer, Ryan Morrissey, Bobby Attanasio and Connor Collier. Goaltender Dave Lewis had eight saves on the day.Â
This year, the Newtown Juniors faced the cream of CONNY lacrosse and it provided a tough challenge for a young squad! The Juniors played well and finished the 2001 Season defeating teams from Brookfield, New Milford, Greenwich and Fairfield while playing tightly contested games against Eli, Wilton, Westport, Cheshire, New Canaan and Redding.

The team was coached by Brian White, Raub Beitel, Charlie Hill and Tom Archie.
