Fire Company Summer Bash

Raises Funds, Support

The Botsford Fire Rescue Company’s Summer Bash drew crowds to the station at 315 South Main Street Saturday, August 18, for food, raffles, and entertainment.

With his grills filling the air with rich cooking aromas, John Burtsche prepared the afternoon’s ribs, sausage, hot dogs, and corn on the cob while two bands, Fast Ricky and the Nightriders, got ready to play for the night.

Inside was Jessica Blauvelt, selling raffle tickets. Musician Mark Kadan with the Nightriders purchased a few. “You’ve got to support your fire departments,” he said.

Younger guests Grace Bianco and Madison McCulloch were soon crowded with siblings Carl and Reinna Bianco and Amber McCulloch. The group gathered at the end of a picnic table in the shade to draw pictures and play.

The Summer Bash fundraiser follows the fire company’s Oktoberfest in 2011, which was also a fundraiser similar to this month’s event that raised funds supporting training, fire company activities, and equipment.

Enjoying the bash, which started at 2 pm, were Jay Conley, Patrick Keough, Mike Locorotondo, and Zak Ouellette, all with the Botsford Fire Rescue.
