Conservation Finance At Highstead, Saturday Afternoon
REDDING â James Levitt, director of the program on conservation innovation at the Harvard Forest, will discuss âExploring the Frontiers of Conservation Finance: Funding the Protection of the New England Landscapeâ on Saturday, October 21, at 2 pm, at Highstead Arboretum. (The lectureâs name in the press from Highstead was incorrect.)
Admission is free but reservations are required. Call 203-938-8809 for reservations.
During his presentation, Mr Levitt will offer insights on the history and future of conservation finance innovation in New England and America. Based on his work with pioneering experts from the public, private, nonprofit and academic sectors, he will discuss how, even in the context of widespread fiscal constraints, the financial resources available to the American conservation community may grow dramatically in quantity and quality in decades to come.
Mr Levitt will also highlight ideas emerging from a recent roundtable he convened at Harvardâs Center for the Environment seeking funding mechanisms for the Wildlands and Woodlands vision that promotes protecting 50 percent of southern New England in forest.
Highstead Arboretum is at 127 Lonetown Road (Route 107).
