Truckers Receive Over $4,000 in Fines

On November 10, from 6 am to 2 pm,  town and state police positioned themselves along Route 25 to inspect  commercial truck traffic, resulting in the issuance of more than $4,000 in fines.

During the project, 43 trucks were inspected, 15 of which were weighed on portable scales, police said. Four trucks were found to be overweight.

Twenty-one tickets were issued to truckers, bearing a total of 27 motor vehicle charges, police said.

Police said they took five trucks off the road for violations that must be corrected. Police issued $4,091 in fines.

Town police overtime funds for the inspection project were provided through a state law enforcement grant.
