Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine, held its annual Sarah and James Bowdoin Day ceremony on Friday, October 28, to honor those undergraduates who distinguish themselves by excellence in scholarship. Michael Taylor of Sandy Hook, Class of 2007, is among those students to receive recognition as a Sarah and James Bowdoin Scholar. Michael placed in the top 20 percent of each class for the previous academic year.
Newtown resident Aaron Andrew Borchetta recently graduated from the Savannah College of Art and Design with a bachelor of fine arts degree.
Newtown resident Brendan Berg, a senior at Bard College in New York, is working on two separate senior projects. Brendan is working toward a double major in studio arts and computer science and is working on a collection of sculpture and ink jet drawings for studio arts and the development of a new user interface for viewing and interacting with files on a hard drive for computer science. Brendan is working on an interface prototype that will visually cluster information for users and show webs of related documents in hopes that his work will lead to the development of a consumer software product.
Amanda LaPorta of Newtown received high honors for the first marking period at Canterbury School. Briana Berg and Meridith Palo received honors at Canterbury School for the first marking period.
