DYS Plans Annual Meeting
DANBURY â James J. Walsh, executive director of Danbury Youth Services, Inc., announced that the agency will be having its 31st Annual Meeting on Thursday, June 29, at noon. The location is the west side campus of Western Connecticut State University Ancell School of Business, in the Presidentâs Room.
Currently, CYS runs ten programs, serving youth and their families from the Greater Danbury area. Some of these programs include youth and family counseling, post release services, mentoring, and substance abuse prevention. Over 300 clients were served this year in the Youth and Family Counseling Program alone.
This year, the guest speaker will be William Carbone, executive director of the Court Support Services Division of the Connecticut Judicial Branch. His topic will be juvenile crime. Mr Carbone directs and manages over 1,200 employees involved with adult and juvenile probation, family service, alternative sanctions, and pretrial release. He is a member of the National Criminal Justice Association, the American Probation and Parole Association, and the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts.
Glenda Armstrong, of the Alternative Center for Education, will be receiving the 2000 Danbury Youth Services, Inc., Annual Award for Service to Youth and Families.
