State police report that using laser-based speed detection equipment, they spotted motorist Philip Massella, 22, of Waterbury driving 125 miles per hour in a posted 65-mph zone on westbound Interstate 84, near Exit 10, about 9:26 pm May 8.
State police stopped Massella to investigate, after which they charged him with reckless driving.
Massella posted $500 bail, after which he was released from custody for arraignment on the charge on May 19 in Danbury Superior Court.

About 8:10 am May 9, motorist Marvin L. Owen III, 42, of Somerville, Mass., who was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Malibu owned by the Federal Bureau of Prisons, was traveling westward on Interstate 84, east of Exit 11, when the Chevrolet struck the rear end of a westbound 2003 Honda Accord driven by Melba Rivera, 40, of Waterbury, police said.
There were no injuries, state police said. State police verbally warned Owen for following too closely.
