‘JUDITH CORRIGAN: RECENT WORKS’ WILL OPEN AT ULLA SURLAND

avv/gs set 5-15 #670112

FAIRFIELD, CONN. — Ulla Surland – Gallery Eleven will present “Judith Corrigan: Recent Works,” on view June 2–July 7. An opening reception will be June 2, 6:30 to 9 pm.

Painter Judith Corrigan was brought up in a small town in the Catskill Mountains on the banks of the Hudson River. As a child, she spent summers on her grandmother’s farm in southwestern Massachusetts, where she had the opportunity to interact with animals and nature in a direct and deeply personal way.

The horse captured her imagination embedding images of majestic size and graceful beauty. These images along with a love of music and dance developed and merged over the years and gave rise to her colorful paintings of human figures and animals intertwined in the “dance of life.”

Corrigan uses the horse and the human figure in her colorful compositions to express the vitality and spontaneity of her imagination. They have become her actors performing on a stage of canvas.

The gallery is at 11 Unquowa Road. For more information, 203-259-1572.
