Mary K. Skurat

Mary (Kowtko) Skurat, 86, wife of John Skurat of Shelton, died January 13 at Griffin Hospital, Derby.

She was the mother of Alice Hine of Newtown.

She was born in Shelton, February 20, 1914, daughter of the late Wasil and Eva Kowtko, and was a lifelong resident. Mrs Skurat was retired from the dietary staff of Hewitt Memorial Hospital, Shelton, and was a parishioner of Sts Peter and Paul Church, Ansonia.

Besides her husband and daughter, she is survived by a brother, Samuel Kowtko of Seymour; two sisters, Ann Black of Texas and Helen Eaton of Florida; and two grandsons, William and Thomas Hine. She was predeceased by a daughter, Dorothy Skurat, and a brother, Nicholas Kowtko.

Funeral services were held on January 16, from the James T. Toohey & Sons Funeral Home, 92 Howe Avenue, Shelton, and in Sts Peter and Paul Church. Burial was in Sts Peter and Paul Cemetery, Derby, at the convenience of the family.
