Clarification

A report in the May 18 edition of The Newtown Bee, “Council Refuses To Cut Services, Reduces Fund Balance Expense By $200,000,” reflected the unanimous council vote to reduce a fund balance contribution by $200,000. During several subsequent “housekeeping” motions, Councilman Daniel Amaral cast a sole vote against sending the spending plan to referendum. The 11-1 voice vote carried, endorsing a new proposal with $106,406,523 in expenses, and a request for $106,606,523 — reflecting the $200,000 difference for the fund balance infusion.
