Local Equestrienne Competing At AEC

Abigail Lee, 13, an eighth grade student at Newtown Middle School, qualified for the American Eventing Championships this week at the Carolina Horse Park in Raeford, North Carolina. Despite this being her first year eventing at the novice level and the second year competing at recognized events, Lee rode to a strong finish on No Questions, a Dutch Warmblood taking over for her six-year-old Paint, Nonstop Jo, who was sitting out the competition while recovering from Lyme disease. There is $50,000 in prize money and $100,000 in prizes on the line at the American Eventing Championships. Riders representing 35 states – from as far as California and New Mexico – have entered the 2006 Wellpride American Eventing Championships.
