Occupation: I'm a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley in Westport.
Occupation: Iâm a financial advisor with Morgan Stanley in Westport.
Family: My mother, father, brother, and sister all are in Wilton, where I grew up. Iâm the only one in Newtown.
Pets: I have a Yorkshire terrier, Molly. She was a dog my sister absolutely had to have five years ago. She flew her in from Ireland. When it wasnât a good fit, I inherited Molly. She became my labor of love. She wouldnât be my first pick for a dog, but sheâs great.
How long have you lived in Newtown? Iâve lived here since the summer of 2009. I was looking for houses smack in the middle of my masterâs program and was ready to hang it up. My realtor said there was one house in Newtown she wanted me to see, and I thought, âWhere the heck is Newtown? Seriously!â That was the house I made the offer on.
What do you like to do in your free time? I spend a lot of time working on my house. Iâve done so much renovation itâs barely the same house I bought. Iâm a musician, so I spend a lot of time playing with a loose collection of friends, and I write and play some of my own music. And âLive At The Edmond Town Hallâ has become a big part of what I do here, the fundraising music series I am producing. The next one will feature Brown Bird, in August. Iâm a runner and Iâll do 10Ks or half-marathons. I love film. Iâm a huge film buff.
Do you have a favorite movie? The Spirit of the Beehive by Victor Erice. Itâs a 1973 film the takes place in Spain. It uses the whole Frankenstein tale as an allegory for the Spanish Civil War. And Iâm obsesses with the Criterion collection.
Do you have a favorite travel destination? Itâs got to be Nantucket. My parents had a house there from the time I was a baby until I was about 15 years old. I spent a lot of summers there. Thereâs a nostalgic recollection of simpler times when I go back. I still like to go to Nantucket at least once every summer.
What is the best thing about Newtown? I love Main Street. I think thatâs what hit me first, the architecture and the feel. In so many towns in Fairfield County the big businesses have taken over the center of the town. Our Main Street touches on something a lot of those towns donât have anymore.
Who has been the greatest influence in your life? Itâs got to be my father, without a doubt. Not only is he a role model, but heâs like a best friend. Thatâs a relationship weâve always had, a real steady relationship. I couldnât do the âLive At The Edmond Town Hallâ shows without him. He volunteers and fills in wherever he can.
Do you have a personal philosophy? It is always best to try to do something yourself rather than rely on a larger body to take care of it, whether it is religion or government or whatever. Itâs not just about self-sufficiency. You can do something for others through your own interests. Everybody should take their own expertise to help others out.
Do you have a guilty pleasure? I donât feel guilty about any of my pleasures! I like my cigars and I like my whiskey!
