Caregiver Training By Alzheimerâs Certified Instructors
SOUTHBURY â A comprehensive training titled, âCaring for Someone with Alzheimerâs Disease or Other Cognitive Difficulties,â will be hosted at the Lutheran Home of Southbury Saturday, May 31, from 9 am to 5 pm.
âThe presentation was wonderful, comprehensive, and informative,â stated an attendee of this same training that was offered last winter. âThe instructors were compassionate and very knowledgeable.â
Taught by trainers certified by the Alzheimerâs Association, this course will explain the differences between various cognitive and/or memory related disorders, like Alzheimerâs disease and vascular dementia, as well as how to best care for the person(s) you support with a cognitive disorder. This training will also provide attendees with a certificate in Dementia Care by the Alzheimerâs Association.
The fee to complete this eight-hour certification course is $50, which includes lunch and refreshments. Respite care may also be arranged so that you can leave your loved one with a trained caregiver while attending this seminar. A maximum of 20 people may attend.
